Producer: The Castello di Buttrio estate was bought by the Felluga family in 1994 and is currently run by Alessandra Felluga. The castle itself sits atop a hill twenty kilometres from the sea and is surrounded by vineyards.

Vineyard: A single vineyard wine from the estate's vineyard in the town of Buttrio, lying at 140 metres above sea-level. The soil is eocenic marl and sandstone, and the vineyard is terraced to overcome the steep slope. Grapes are hand harvested using small crates.

Winery: The grapes were destemmed and crushed, then fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks for approximately three weeks with frequent pumping over. After completed maceration, the wine was racked into French oak barriques, 50% new and 50% second-fill, where malolactic fermentation took place. The wine was then aged for sixteen to twenty months before bottling.

Taste: Intense, elegant nose with notes of small red berries and spicy undertones of vanilla. Robust and intense on the palate.
