Producer: Mezzacorona is a driving force behind the quality of Trentino wines with a state-of-the-art winery handling estate-grown fruit from the company's extensive vineyard holdings in the heart of the Dolomites. The winery was recently named 'European Winery of the Year 2009' by Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
Vineyard: The Teroldego vine is an indigenous variety of Trentino, where it has found its ideal environment in the Piana Rotaliana. This Riserva is only produced in the best vintages from manually selected and harvested grapes in the most renowned areas of the Piana Rotaliana: Fron, Camorzi and Sottodossi.
Winery: After crushing and destemming, fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature of about 25C. The wine is aged for a minimum of twenty-four months, of which twelve months are in oak and the rest is in bottle.
Taste: Complex, characteristic fragrance with a pleasant, ripe fruit aroma of prunes and blackcurrant. Full-bodied and well-balanced with a soft mouthfeel.
Awards: 2 red glasses, Gambero Rosso 2009 Critics Choice and Gold List, Sommelier Wine Awards 2010
