The Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio, DOP since 2009, is an ancient Vesuvian culture that owes its name to the peasants' custom of weaving bunches of cherry tomatoes around a string tied in a circle, to form a large bunch (the piennolo ) then hung in a dry and ventilated place. Rich in organic acids, with a fresh and acrid taste, it has a leathery skin that ensures that nutrients are preserved over time.
